Teeth Cleaning
Teeth cleaning is an important part of your overall oral health. The main purpose for teeth cleaning is to protect against the beginning or progression of periodontal diseases (gum disease) such as gingivitis and periodontitis. Regular teeth cleaning to remove tartar, stains, or calculus prevents serious bacterial infections that destroy the gums and tissues of the mouth.
Soft Tissue Management
Periodontal disease affects three out of four adults and is caused by bacterial plaque build-up that infects the periodontal (gum) tissues. This infection destroys the tissue and bone that supports the teeth, making periodontal disease the #1 cause of adult tooth loss in America. Soft Tissue Management is an individualized plan to eliminate infection of the gums and root surfaces. An appropriate plan will be chosen by Dr. Guter and your hygienist. We will perform the treatments to help eliminate infection, make recommendations to help you more effectively clean your teeth daily, and guide you to maintaining oral health.
Treating Decay and Cavities
Tooth decay, and the damage it causes to the tooth, is one of the most common problems among dental patients. Tooth decay can begin as soon as a child gets his or her first tooth and can continue through adulthood if not treated and prevented. Everyone that has teeth is at risk for decay.
A tooth that has decay must be treated early. Leaving a decaying tooth untreated allows the decay to spread, destroying the tooth and eventually making it weak. A weak tooth is susceptible to fractures and cracks and can eventually be lost. When decay is found on a tooth, we remove it, leaving a clean cavity. Dental fillings are used to fill the cavity to protect the tooth from further decay.
Sealants
Sealants are a protective coating applied to the back teeth protecting against the decaying effects of bacteria in the mouth. Back teeth have irregular surfaces which make them ideal for chewing and grinding. They also have pits and fissures (deep grooves), which make them susceptible to decay. Sealants are used to fill in the deep grooves of the teeth by placing a protective barrier between the tooth and bacteria to prevent decay.
Restorative Procedures
If you’ve been affected by dental health problems, our restorative procedures can free you from worry. Whether you’re in need of strong dental implants to help you regain the power to eat what you want when you want, quality dental crowns to add strength, durability and stability to decaying teeth, or any other procedure, our staff will provide you with exceptional care.
Dental Crowns
Crowns are used when the majority of a tooth becomes so badly damaged that it is no longer possible to restore it with other measures. Crowns literally replace the entire surface of the tooth with a porcelain shell. A crown not only strengthens a tooth, but it can dramatically improve a tooth’s appearance, shape and alignment. Our office is proud to offer CEREC one-day crown technology.
Bridge
Bridges are an option for filling the space created by a missing tooth. It is an ideal method to fill the space created by missing teeth with one or more artificial teeth cemented into place using the teeth on either side for support. Bridge work is as much an art as it is an exact science, since it replaces a missing tooth both functionally and cosmetically.
Dental Implants
When a tooth has been lost or must be pulled due to decay, dental implants can be used to permanently replace the missing tooth. Dental implants can restore your smile and the functionality of a missing tooth, a procedure that has only been possible with the development of modern dental technology.
Root Canal Treatment
A root canal is necessary when an untreated cavity grows into the pulp causing infection and pain. A root canal is performed to clean out the infected tooth pulp and disinfect the canals of the tooth. Once the infection is resolved, the canal is filled in to prevent any further infection and adds strength to the tooth.
TMJ Treatments
TMJ stands for temporal-mandibular joint located in the area of the skull where the head and jaw meet. Problems in this joint may be caused by a misalignment of the teeth, trauma, or excess muscle tension and can create quite a bit of pain and biting difficulties. Dental treatments for the condition can include replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite and filling gaps between teeth. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. Occasionally a plastic mouthpiece is used to prevent clenching or grinding that is contributing to the problem. While there is no one solution that is right for all cases, we can help you determine a treatment plan.
Cosmetic Dentistry
Cosmetic dentistry includes procedures to correct imperfections or enhance the appearance of the mouth. Tooth color, alignment, spacing as well as regularity of the teeth are all characteristics that can be enhanced to provide a stunning smile.
Tooth Whitening
Brightening and whitening the appearance of teeth to make them more attractive is a popular procedure. Bleaching can be used to whiten stained and discolored teeth, or simply to enhance a dull smile. We will take an impression of your mouth to create customized clear whitening trays. The whitening gel trays should be worn 30-60 minutes up to twice a day. At the end of this period, you will see maximum whitening results that are nothing short of dazzling.
Another exciting tooth whitening option our practice offers is ZOOM Teeth Whitening. The complete procedure takes less than an hour and begins with a preparation period followed by as little as 45 minutes of bleaching. The ZOOM teeth whitening light aids in activating the bleaching agent of hydrogen peroxide and helps it penetrate the surface of the tooth. During the teeth whitening procedure, patients may comfortably watch television or listen to music. We offer blankets, neck rolls and paraffin hand wax treatments for your enjoyment.
Invisalign
The Invisalign treatment straightens teeth with a comfortable and less noticeable procedure. It consists of a series of clear, snap-on, custom fit, removable mouth trays that apply a controlled amount of force to your teeth, forcing them to shift. The system provides the same beautiful results as traditional braces, but since the trays are made of clear plastic, they are virtually invisible. Throughout the process, you will visit us every six weeks to ensure treatment is progressing as planned. Once your treatment is complete, you will likely wear a clear retainer to ensure your new smile stays in place.
Veneers
Veneers are used to cover the outside of a damaged or stained tooth that is visible when talking or smiling. At the first appointment the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a temporary covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth for an aesthetically appealing result.
The Latest Technology
New dental technology and hi-tech diagnostic tools are changing the way that modern dentists operate. Our practice utilizes many of the newer proven methods to help our patients and take dentistry into the new millennium. Our commitment to technology is a result of our desire to provide our patients with the best level of care possible while providing absolute comfort.
Diagnodent
Diagnodent is the revolutionary new to find even the smallest areas of tooth decay. By using this new laser technology, Dr. Guter can detect decay at its earliest stage in order to treat it more conservatively.
Digital Dental X-Ray
This new type of x-ray system allows the dentist to create images of your teeth, jaw bone and surrounding gums with a 90% reduction in radiation exposure to the patient compared to regular radiographs.
CEREC Crowns

With the advent of CEREC crowns, the dentist can prepare your tooth and send the information to a computer that creates a new crown in the office while you watch TV or listen to some music. The whole process only takes about one hour. CEREC crowns are strong, durable and can be color matched to adjacent teeth making the crown virtually undistinguishable from your natural teeth.
Nitrous Oxide/Oxygen
This sedation method is composed of two gases: oxygen and nitrous oxide and is one of the gases we use in relaxation dentistry. When a patient inhales this gas it has a soothing effect and puts the patient in a state of deep relaxation. The patient will smell a pleasing fragrance and experience a state of complete comfort. Sleep dentistry is recommended to patients if they are apprehensive or anxious about the visiting the dentist’s office. To find out if you are a suitable candidate for relaxation dentistry, contact our office for a consultation.
Soft-Tissue Laser Dentistry
The laser we use is an alternative to the common hand-held scalpel or other tools. The laser uses an invisible energy beam to perform soft tissue procedures more efficiently and comfortably for our patients. Soft-tissue lasers are clean, delicate, and minimize the pain normally associated with regular dental visits.
Drill-Free Dentistry
This type of dentistry uses a technique known as air abrasion dentistry to accomplish what was once only done with traditional dental drills. Drill-free dentistry is considered to be a gentler form of performing the task of cleaning out cavities or for other functions the dental drill would normally be used. Air abrasion dentistry uses powerful streams of air combined with an ultra fine abrasive compound to remove tooth decay and prevent it from spreading further in the tooth. Once finished, the affected tooth is filled with a mercury free dental filling or a bonding agent may be applied. If you have had a bad experience with dental drills in the past or if the sound of a dental drill makes you apprehensive, be sure to mention air abrasion dentistry or drill-free dentistry to our staff.
Computerized Anesthesia
Visiting the dentist can be an anxious endeavor for many, and the mere thought of a shot can be unsettling or even fearful. To help you ease into your dental treatment and make painful injections a thing of the past, we use computerized anesthetic. It’s an excellent example of our efforts to bring you the latest dental technologies so that all your visits to our office are comfortable, positive experiences. The computer controlled system allows for an even-flow delivery of local anesthetic in a very comfortable manner, via a small, lightweight hand piece resembling a pen. It doesn’t look or feel like a syringe, and the injection is virtually imperceptible, making your experience stress-free.
Intra-Oral Cameras
These small cameras have revolutionized the entire patient-education process as a patient can now sit comfortably in a chair and get a clear picture of his tooth condition and make an informed decision before the condition gets worse. An intra-oral camera is a small pen sized tool attached to a computer or television monitor and comes with a disposable plastic sheath for contamination prevention. An intra-oral camera helps us take a video of the inside of the mouth of a patient. The video is then transmitted via a cable to a TV screen and can be viewed by both the patient and the dentist.
Patient Education
Every TV throughout our office networks to the CAESY Enterprise and Smile Channel. Chair side CAESY live-action videos show state-of-the-art 3D animations explaining procedures in an easy to understand language. The Smile Channel will display your aesthetic options, allowing you to see how your smile can be transformed, while also educating you on the link between dental health and a healthy life.
